First you will need to place your bet amount and then you will receive your two cards, the dealer will also deal their own two cards.

• If your first two cards have a total value of 21, you win!
• If your hand value is closer to 21 than the dealers, you win!
• If the dealer goes ‘bust’ by exceeding a total hand value of 21, you win!

Card values are calculated as follows:

• Numbered cards or cards 1 to ten have the same value as their number
• Face cards or Jacks, Queens, and Kings have a value of 10

If the hole card is an Ace, you will be given the opportunity to place an insurance bet. The insurance bet is a side bet, which pays out at 2:1 if the hole card is a ten, in other words the dealer has Blackjack. This bet is completely separate to your primary bet and the one does not affect the other.

If the dealer’s hand is valued at 21, all other bets except the insurance bet are lost, unless you too have 21. When this happens, it is called a push and your original wager is returned to you.

If the dealer does not go bust, then whichever hand is closest to 21 wins.
